What is the CONIFA European Football Cup?

Set to play in from the 7th-17th of July this year the CONIFA EFC is an international football company that is sep up by CONIFA.

CONIFA is the Confederation of Independent Football federations that governs football organisations that are nor internationally recognised by FIFA.

These organisations come in the form of micro-nations, ethnic groups and territories rather than countries or sovereign states.

Cornwall, Yorkshire, Monaco, Hawaii and even the United Koreans of Japan are all members of CONIFA and take part in the competitions ran by the organisations.

The closest of these tournaments coincide with the upcoming Euro's, the CONIFA European Football Cup hosted by the County of Nice in France.

Twelve teams are set to compete in the tournament spilt into four groups of three:

Group A: County of Nice, Two Scillies, Sardinia

Group B: Abkhazia, Sapmi, Szekely Land

Group C: South Ossetia (champions of the 2019 edition), Artsakh, Kernow (Cornwall)

Group D: Padania, Western Armenia, Chameria

The three teams will play each other once and advance into a knockout stages, just like the tournaments we all know.

The players playing in this tournament will be made up of semi-professional players playing in their respective areas leagues.

But tournaments like this one gives these players a chance to represent their people on an international platform and give a voice to those who don't have one.

These players and football organisations will never be represented globally but CONIFA gives them an opportunity to get that and it needs backing from rest of the footballing world.

There are a lot more areas around the world that could benefit from having a team compete at CONIFA tournaments and use football as a way to connect and grow.

There is an opportunity to get involved in the tournament as a commentator for the matches with instructions on how to below.
