Champions South Shields sealed their home account of the 202/23 season with a well-earned 2-1 victory over Warrington Town.
Tom Broadbent headed home the first goal of the game just five minutes in, just four minutes later Robert Briggs slotted home the second.
Luke Duffy slotted home his chance in the 34th minute to make it 2-1 to Warrington Town.
The Pitching In Northern Premier League champions started as champions, opening the scoring just five minutes into the game.
Jordan Hunter laid off a ball to Connor Newton who delivered an inch-perfect ball to Broadbent who headed home beautifully.
It didn’t take long for the second as Jordy Mongoy dispossessed Anthony Thompson in goal for the visitors and played it across to Briggs who made no mistake and slotted away his goal into the empty net in the ninth minute.
Warrington Town had a great opportunity to half the deficit as Joshua Amis won a header, but it was just over the bar in the 14th minute.
The Yellows began to grow into the game and eventually grabbed a goal back in the 34th minute, Myles Boney played it straight to Luke Duffy who took it around the Shields keeper and slotted it into the empty net.
In the 50th minute Harry Gardiner, who was rewarded with his first start mate a great run to the by-line and played a ball across the face of goal, but no one was there to tap it in.
Shields won the ball back and it fell to Lewis Alessandra whose effort was well saved by Thompson and out for a corner, which was dealt with by the Yellows’ defence.
Warrington town almost equalised, if not for a great stop by Boney in the 63rd minute after a Bohan Dixon strike.
Martin Smith almost gave South Shields a two-goal advantage in the 75th minute but the midfielder’s strike was wide of the post, much quieter second half than the first.
Isaac Buckley-Ricketts looked exciting from the bench for the away side he had an opportunity to make equalise but got his shot all wrong and Boney claimed it.
Duffy should have grabbed his second and put his side level with five minutes to go but hit his shot over the ground after a superb ball inside from Buckley-Ricketts.
Away on the counter in the 90th minute, Mackenzie Heaney played through Dylan Mottley-Henry who turned on the jets and got away one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but Thompson won the battle and kept his side in the game.
