Manager Paul Hartley was dismissed after just three months with Hartlepool United second bottom of the table and without a League win.
But this came before the former Celtic midfielder signed 17 players for Pools this season, those that have come with varied results.
17) Chris Maguire
A big name on paper, signing on a free after being released by Lincoln City - however, the two-time Scottish International is yet to play a single minute for Pools this season.
With rumours of his ban still applying there are questions as to whether Pools should have signed the man considering he cannot play. New Pools manager Keith Curle is awaiting on some clarification on the situation - hopefully he can be a big player for Pools and keep the side from the drop.
16) Kyle Letheren
Like Maguire Letheren hasn't played for Pools this season - but unlike Maguire, he wasn't really meant to. Letheren was signed to be a backup for Ben Killip and also as the keeper coach.
Killip has had a good season so unless there is an injury to the former Braintree shot-stopper there will be no reason for Letheren to have any minutes.
15) Ellis Taylor
Hartlepool-born Ellis Taylor joined on loan from Sunderland and has played five times for Pools this season, and he didn't really set the world alight in his limited game time.
A 19-year-old wide player, Taylor is enjoying his first senior minutes at Hartlepool and the young lad still has a lot to learn. With Curle playing a 4-4-2 in recent games there is space for him to come in and hopefully, he can kick on.
14) Jake Hastie
The Marquee signing earlier in the window, Hastie was the man to replace Luke Molyneux on the left but, as of yet, he has not lived up to his name.
Hastie was a promising player later on in his career but a big move to Rangers did not really work out for him. Pools played a lot of games without wingers which maybe stunted his game time but Curle is still considering him so hopefully, he can start to make an impact.
13) Brody Paterson
Signing on a free, after being released by Scottish Champions Celtic, Paterson is just 21 years old and is mainly used as cover for left-back David Ferguson.
He has played nine games for Pools this season but has not really proved he is ready for League Two football. With many years left in him he has a chance to improve and Tuesday in the Papa Johns Trophy will be a great chance to show Curle what he has to offer.
12) Jack Hamilton
Mainly used as a substitute striker, Hamilton has never really got going in his minutes, struggling to even get a touch of the ball as Pools were chasing for a goal.
He started against Doncaster, Pools' first league win of the season and played well and won most of his aerial battles. There is something there for Hamilton but his role as a substitute forward isn't enough for him to make an impact.
11) Mikael Ndjoli
The forward would be higher up on this list if he could replicate his form against Harrogate in the Papa Johns Trophy - where he scored two goals.
Like Hamilton, Ndjoli has been mainly used off the bench - a different type of forward, a bit more direct and seems to offer a bit more than Hamilton. Already off the mark for the season, Ndjoli should get some chances up front in Curle's 4-4-2 this season, hopefully adding to his tally.
10) Reghan Tumilty
Tumilty has played more than some fans would have liked, with Jamie Sterry spending some time out injured Tumilty has filled in.
The Scot has had a mixed back of games, in some he has looked really good, but in others, he has looked poor. There is certainly some quality there, his bit of skill against Crewe Alexandria is a good example of this.
9) Callum Cooke
A local lad signed after a good season with Bradford last year, Cooke hasn't quite lived up to his billing as of yet.
Cooke has rarely been used as an attacking midfielder in his favoured position - getting forced deeper or on the wing. This could be the reason why he hasn't shown his promise from last year. Curle seems to be using him in a more attacking role. Fingers crossed he can kick on.
8) Alex Lacey
Lacey has not had the best of seasons, there is no question that Pools have been leaking goals this season.
The defence has been busy but it has not been all bad Lacey has put in some key performances and has even chipped in with a goal and an assist so far this campaign.
7) Euan Murray
Joining after winning the Scottish Championship with Kilmarnock last season, Murray has been the better of the two permanent centre-back signings this season.
Murray has been really solid at times, but overall the defence needs to improve and switching to a back 4 has helped where he has even filled in at right back.
6) Mouhamed Niang
A versatile player, he has played in central midfield, centre back and even right back, his off-the-ball work is really good - constant pressure and work rate.
His work on the ball needs some work but there is a good player there and at just 23 there is time for improvement.
5) Rollin Menayese
After losing Timi Odusina, Pools needed to replace him and Meneyase hasn't quite looked like a match but there is promise there.
A quick and powerful defender, the former Wales youth international has performed well in the centre of defence and hopefully, his loan spell can be taken beyond this season.
4) Clarke Oduor
Joining on loan from Barnsley on deadline day, Oduor took a while to nail down a place in the starting XI but he has since registered two assists this season - leading the stat for Pools so far.
Oduor is a one-time Kenya international and this quality has certainly been shown during his short time with Pools and looks to be nailing down the place in the right-hand side of midfield.
3) Mohamed Sylla
Following Nicky Featherstone's injury, Sylla stepped into the holding midfield role and has relished this opportunity.
Looking like a dominant midfielder, Sylla was influential in Pools' first season win and formed a reliable partnership with Tom Crawford.
2) Josh Umerah
After signing from Wealdstone in the summer they were some eyebrows raised - but he has certainly proved the doubters wrong.
Pools' top scorer this season with six goals in just 13 appearances has an excellent goal return and looks like a top forward.
1) Wes McDonald
Morecambe fans took to Twitter to express their joy at McDonald's departure, but Pools fans are left questioning what they were so happy about.
A great dribbler who likes to come inside off the left and create chances, with his great feet he has dazzled defences and scored three times already in a Pools shirt.
McDonald is a great winger and has been a perfect replacement for Luke Molynuex, although on the opposite flank.
