PREVIEW: Stockport County vs Hartlepool United

Hartlepool United are away at Stockport County away at Edgeley Park live on BT Sport 1 in the massive semi-final of the National League playoffs.

Both teams are desperate to get back into the football league and it will be a highly contested game on Sunday 12pm kick off. Pools are fresh from a 3-2 victory over Bromley at Victoria Park where Rhys Oates (2) and Luke Armstrong scored. Stockport finished third so had only one playoff to play, so their last game was a 1-0 victory over Yeovil Town on the last game of the season. County have not lost in five games and have had a couple days rest so it will be no easy task for the travelling side. The two sides have played each other three times previously and Pools have not lost drawing once and winning twice. Pools know just how good Stockport man Richie Bennett is who scored some important goals in his short spell on loan at Victoria Park earlier in the season before County recalled him. They have a lot of decent players in their talented squad including top scorer with 16 goals from midfield John Rooney - also the two former Pools fullbacks Mark Kitching and Macauley Southam-Hales and also Paddy Madden who knows where the back of the net is. Pools could welcome back number one goalkeeper Ben Killip who is back in training after his elbow injury he sustained earlier in the season. Lewis Cass, who was absent against Bromley, could also miss out through injury. The Beautiful Game predicts a 3-1 win for Hartlepool with Luke Armstrong and Rhys Oates continuing their fine form in front of goal - hopefully with Killip in goal Pools can keep it tighter at the back.
