PREVIEW: Liverpool vs Manchester United

Updated: Jan 17, 2021

A top of the table clash which could prove to be one of the most vital North-West Derbies in a long while as Liverpool host Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday at 4:30pm.

Liverpool have been struggling as of late with the Reds' last win being on the 19th December were they beat Crystal Palace 7-0, while Manchester United have been flying winning four out of their last five matches.

Bruno Fernandes is in great form scoring 11 goals in 17 games and also getting seven assists from attacking midfield this season so the Reds will need to keep an eye on him, but Mo Salah has 13 to his name for Liverpool in the Premier League and after a shaking couple of games will have a point to prove.

Xherdan Shaqiri has been in fine form in his limited minutes this season and the Reds' fans are wanting him to start on Sunday - likewise with new signing Thiago.

Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Diogo Jota are still all out for Liverpool while Joel Matip will face a late fitness test in his bid to be fit.

United's only absentees being Facundo Pellestri, Phil Jones and new signing Amad Diallo who is still in Italy having just completed the move from Atalanta.

Whoever wins this game will go top of the Premier League, Liverpool are looking to retain their title and United are in a great position to get their first title since 2012/13.

Both sides will meet again soon at Old Trafford in the FA Cup on the 24th of this month.
