PREVIEW: Hartlepool vs Chesterfield

Hartlepool United are at home to Chesterfield at Victoria Park on Saturday at the later kick off time of 5:20 as the game is also been shown live on BT Sport 1.

Pools did not have a game last week so have plenty of time to prepare for this important play off clash.

Their last game was the 7-2 defeat of Wealdstone on the 17th where Rhys Oates (2), Richie Bennett (3) Nicky Featherstone and Mark Shelton got on the scoresheet.

Chesterfield's last game was a 2-1 victory away at Bromley on Tuesday, where Jack Aidan Clarke and George Carline got the goals for the Spitfires.

The travelling side have only one once in their last five games so Pools should be coming into this one with bags of confidence.

Hartlepool and Chesterfield have played each other ten times over the years with Pools winning four of those times, Chesterfield winning three times and the other three being draws.

Chesterfield have never beaten Hartlepool in the National League - so the odds really are in Pools' favour.

The Spitfires have a great squad Curtis Weston, Laurence Maguire and Tom Denton are all great players but top scorer Akwasi Asante is the one to keep an eye on.

Having just signed the clinical forward Danny Rowe, Chesterfield will be raring to go and fully up for this one.

Former Pools men Marcus Dinanga and Fraser Kerr are also members of Chesterfield's and they could be coming back to prove a point at Victoria Park.

Pools will be without Ben Killip, Ryan Johnson and Joe Grey through injury, but also fans favourite Richie Bennett who was recalled by Stockport County this week.

However new signings Zaine Francis-Angol, Brad James and Harvey Saunders are primed and ready and hopefully will make an instant impact.

Recent signing Danny Elliott has only made prior appearance and the forward will surely still be looking to make a difference in a Hartlepool United shirt.

Chesterfield are in sixth place and Pools in third, both teams still have a lot to play for with Chesterfield pushing for a playoff place and Pools still hopeful for the title.

The Beautiful Game predicts a 2-1 for Hartlepool with Luke Armstrong and Rhys Oates scoring, Danny Rowe will get a consolation for Chesterfield.
