Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard appointed Aston Villa boss

Liverpool club legend Steven Gerrard appointed Aston Villa manager on a three-and-a-half year deal, ending his time as Rangers boss.

The move comes after Villa let go of manager Dean Smith, who was a boyhood fan of the Villains, after some poor results in the Premier League this season with the club currently sat in 16th place in the table.

The opposite can be said about Gerrard's now former side Ranger's who are top of the Scottish Premier League at the time of writing.

Gerrard has done exceptional at Rangers, bringing the much sort after 55th league title for the Glasgow side and earning a real place in the hearts of many Gers fans.

But, the move to Villa Park has upset some Liverpool fans who thought they would never see their former skipper in a different clubs colours in the Premier League.

Gerrard 186 goals in 710 games for Liverpool and also won the FA Cup three times, the League cup four times, the Champions League, the UEFA Cup, the Super Cup, but famously missed out on the Premier League title.

The Villa move is a good move for his career, managing in a more competitive league and could bring him one step closer to managing Liverpool one day.

The former captain will return to Anfield as early as the 11th December, the first time for a competitive match since he left the club in 2015, over six years ago, and he will certainly look to get one over his old side as much as it will pain the Liverpool fans.
