Hartlepool United are still looking for a new manager for the upcoming season, following the sacking of Graeme Lee back in May – with one game of the season still to go.
Lee guided Hartlepool to a 17th place finish in League Two last season and also to the Semi-finals of the Papa John's Trophy and to the Fourth Round of the FA Cup bowing out to Premier League side Crystal Palace.
The dismissal of Lee left many Pools fans scratching their heads as he had done a good job since his appointment in December 2021.
Since May, Hartlepool United have been without a manager and the hunt still continues for Chairman Raj Singh who needs to make an appointment sooner, rather than later.
Simon Grayson, Tony Mowbray and Mike Williamson were some of the managers tipped for the job but all have reportedly turned down the club's advances.
With pre-season on the horizon, the players are set to report back on the 20th June for training, it seems that time is running out in the race to appoint a new manager.
The latest name to be speculated is now former Kelty Hearts boss Kevin Thomson, who guided the Scottish side to the Scottish League Two title – before resigning in late May.
Thomson has links to the North East, having played for Middlesbrough from 2010/13, leaving many fans and journalists pondering – Will he be the next manager at the Suit Direct Arena?
Another recent name in the running is former Hartlepool United captain Billy Paynter who has just left his role as a coach at Port Vale.
Whoever will take the reins at Hartlepool United will no doubt get the support from the ever-loyal fan base, but time is running out to make an appointment and hopefully, this means that Singh and the rest of the board have took their time to appoint the best person possible.
