Hartlepool United have been busy in the transfer market so far, but there still is a lot more work to do.
Manager Paul Hartley has used his knowledge of the Scottish leagues to bring in some players ready for the 2022/23 season in League Two.
With June 30th fast approaching a lot of players will become available on a free transfer and we have identified five players that Pools could potentially snap up.
5) Tim Akinola
A defensive midfielder by trade, Akinola is a product of the Arsenal youth academy and at 21 years old he is ready for some senior football.
He spent last campaign on loan at Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership but only played once for the Tangerines - Hartley could use his links back in Scotland to bring him to Pools.
Akinola could be a nice addition to the squad and help make up the midfield numbers and if he does well it could be a great business deal as he could be sold for a profit later down the line.
4) Callum Cooke
Cooke comes from the nearby town of Peterlee and played for Middlesbrough as a youngster.
An attacking midfielder with seven assists and two goals in 42 games for Bradford last season - but he will be available on a free transfer from Thursday.
Pools are in need of an attacking midfielder and this local lad fits the bell - he won't need any time to settle in and will be a nice addition to the Pools midfield.
3) Tyler Magloire
Pools fans will remember Magloire from his spell in the 2020/21 season playing 11 games and even scoring once.
A quick and powerful central defender who has plenty of experience at this level and even higher.
Blackburn Rovers have not given him a new contract and it could be a perfect opportunity to bring him back to familiar territory and allow him some serious permanent game time.
2) John Marquis
Marquis is somewhat of a journeyman in the Football League and he once again finds himself looking for another club after running down his contract at Lincoln City.
However, Marquis has scored goals wherever he has played and this experience will be vital for Pools this season if a deal can be put into place.
At 30-years-old he still has a lot to give and Hartlepool should try their best to pick up a striker of his quality for free.
1) Jodi Jones
A right-winger who is a superb dribbler of the ball and left-footed - he would be a great replacement for the outgoing Luke Molyneux.
He signed for Coventry back in 2016 when they were in League One but as they rose the ranks his game time has been limited.
At 24 years old he is a great age to be available on a free, having played in the Championship last season it may be a big ask for Pools to tempt him to the Suit Direct but if the offer is right he will certainly play a big part this season.
