Podcasts have had a resurgence in the last 5-10 years and football lends itself very well to the platform.
Former and current, players and managers talking about their experiences in the game, the good and the bad is always an interesting listen.
So here are The Beautiful Games five football podcasts that you should give a try.
5) Switch of Play
One for all Hartlepool United fans, hosted by former Pools media manager Mark Simpsons and former Pools Captain Mickey Barron.
Switch of Play looks into Hartlepool United's past through a series of guests from different era's at Pools including Michael Nelson, Joel Porter and Ritchie Humphreys.
An honest and insightful look into the club and the people involved during their lengthy spells with Pools, it is a great listen for Hartlepool United fans who want to know more about what went on behind the scenes during a great era at the club.
A Switch of Play has 19 episodes to listen to on SoundCloud, Spotify and YouTube and my personal favourite is Craig Harrison's episode as it shed a new light on the former manager during a tough spell at Pools and I feel helped change a perception of him.
4) I Had Trials Once...
Brought to you by current AFC Fylde forward Jordan Hulme and former Bury, Fleetwood Town and Salford man Gareth Seddon.
I Had Trials Once looks at the lower leagues of football and looks at many of the field and off the field antics of many guests - including personal favourite of mine Mike Phenix and his tales of working as a security in Asda following his ban from football.
Hulme and Seddon both played in Non-League for the majority of their careers with Hulme working his was up the Non-League ladder and Seddon playing professional and working his way down - two different perspectives of Non-League and I feel they work well together.
Although there has not been an episode since August there are still 46 episodes to chose from and even some episodes with professionals like Dean Windass and Carlton Cole.
3) Undr the Cosh
Another podcast with a slightly different angle, this one focuses more on the lower leagues of professional football with hosts Jon Parkin and Chris Brown known for their careers in the Championship.
Along with comedian, also called Chris Brown, the trio have a series of guests from up and down the football pyramid and even post YouTube videos about football and with extra podcast episodes on their Patreon page - you are really spoilt for content.
With over 100 episodes and many fantastic guests Undr the Cosh is definitely podcast you should be listening to - Mark Crossley's tales of Brian Clough in episode 7 is a massive highlight.
2) The Greatest Game
Again, a different angle on a football podcast, presented just be Jamie Carragher the former Liverpool defender talks to footballers and famous football fans about their love of the game.
'The Greatest Game' has one recurring theme in every episode as Carra asks the guest the greatest game they have played in and who would make their dream five aside team.
The podcast currently has 26 episodes and has just finished season 2, a personal highlight is the Michael Owen episode which seemed to change perceptions on his career and helped people understand the actions he did.
Ryan Giggs, Robbie Fowler and even Steven Gerrard have all been on the podcast it is interesting to see their positions and what their greatest games are.
1) That Peter Crouch Podcast
Brought to you by Peter Crouch and football writer Tom Fordyce and radio DJ Chris Stark, That Peter Crouch podcast is a different one to others in this list as it rarely features guests and mainly discuss Crouchy's career.
Each episode features a topic around football ie. transfers, tactics, refs and Crouchy discusses his experiences with them, but it generally strays off topic.
The three lads have great chemistry and many recurring jokes throughout, with 61 episodes and a new series coming on Wednesday 17th February, That Peter Crouch Podcast is definitely one to listen to.
