Report: Vibes 8-0 Welfare Athletic

Watt fires three in Vibes eight goal fest in preseason friendly against Welfare Athletic

Barry Milligan opened the scoring in the 10th minute, with Jamie Jobson getting a goal in the 33rd minute.

Joe Boader got the third ten minutes into the second half, Ollie Watt then got his hattrick with a goal in the 51st, 62nd and 65th minutes.

Joppa got his second of the game in the 75th minute and Anthony Thompson completed the scoring with his strike in the 86th minute.

Vibes started as they meant to go on in the game as Costello broke up the right side of the pitch and crossed the ball into the centre, which found the feet of Milligan who fired the ball into the back of the net.

Joppa could have made it 2-0 in the 17th minute but his strike was saved by the keeper, but in the 33rd minute he was played through by Craig Altringham and this time Joppa finished, a lovely side footed finish to the keepers left.

The first half ended 2-0 to Vibes, solid half but nothing too challenging for the side as they kept full control of the game throughout.

However, Welfare could have gotten back into the game at the second half a mistake by Costello at centre half meant the Welfare striker took it from his feet but Liam Jackson made a great recovery tackle to keep the clean sheet.

A mistake by the number 16 for Welfare in the 50th allowed Boarder to pick the ball up and fire a low shot on the edge of the area that found the back of the net, opening the floodgates.

A minute later was all it took for the next game with Milligan bombing down the wing and playing it to Watt who curled the ball into the back of the net, a fantastic goal for the fourth.

Alex Weegram off the bench had a couple of chances for a goal but his header on goal was claimed in the 54th minute and his effort from distance was parried into Boarder but he was offside.

In the 62nd minute Michael Connelly, on his debut, picked the ball up from deep and played it through to Watt to get his second of the game with a lovely chipped effort.

It only took another three minutes for the player-manager to complete his hattrick as the ball found its way into the box and it was a simple finish after some poor defending from Welfare.

Joppa got his second of the game in the 75th minute, heading in from the keepers rebounded after he saved a shot from distance.

Welfare almost got a consolation in the 80th minute as the striker was played through on goal, but John Sutherland made a great save in goal to keep the clean sheet.

An. Thompson got the final goal in the 86th minute, a lovely strike from outside of the box after some great work by A. Weegram to find him from the right wing.

Fantastic performance from Vibes all around today and Ollie Watt wins my man of the match for his superb hattrick.
