Report: Vibes 0-3 Throston Wanderers

Throston Wanderers were once again victorious over FC Vibes, this time in the semi-final of the Colin Iver Cup on the Rec.

Wanderers started in the game strongly and it did not take long for them to open the scoring as 12 minutes in the Number 7 finished off a cross in from the right-hand side that beat John Sutherland in goal.

An eventful five minutes took place as Barry Milligan broke down the right and won a corner, but it fell to nothing and Wanderers broke away nearly doubling their lead, but Sutherland made a great save to deny it.

Ollie Watt attempted to clear his lines in the 20th minute but it bounced straight toward the Throston number 20 who should have scored if not for another great stop by the Vibes keeper.

Vibes had a fantastic opportunity to level the scoring in the 25th minute as Milligan, again a danger down the right who’s byline cross found Jamie Jobson who’s shot was saved by the keeper and the follow up shot again by Joppa was also saved.

In what was against the run of play Wanderers made it 2-0 in the 31st minute as the Wanderers number 11 was played through on goal and it was a fantastic finish into the bottom left corner.

Watt almost made up for his previous error with a great strike on the edge of the box in the 39th minute, but his strike was claimed by the keeper.

The second half was a lot less dramatic than the first, the first real chance of the half came in the 66th minute when Number 14 for Wanderers headed towards goal, but Sutherland was equal to it.

Two minutes later Number 11 for Wanderers should have made it three as the cross came in from the left and his shot was wide of the post.

The third goal came in the 84th minute as a cross was played across the Vibes box and tapped in at the far post.

Milligan had a chance to get a consolation in the 89th minute, but his shot was wide of the post.

Great effort from the lads against a very good side, played some good football and now they look ahead to the start of pre-season.

Man of the match goes to Barry Milligan for Vibes, a constant danger down the right hand side and was a problem for the Wanderers left back.

Vibes starting XI: Sutherland (c); Costello, Pearson, Watt, Trathan; Milligan, Ad. Thompson, Atkinson; An. Thompson, Jobson

Subs: E. Campbell, J. Ingram, J. Boarder, A. Weegram, D. Dickinson
