Report: Throston Wanderers 4-4 (5-4p) FC Vibes

Vibes take Premier League side Throston Wanderers all the way in the Ste Tierney but ultimately miss out on penalties

Vibes opened the scoring just seven minutes in; after Joshua Daley played a great cross into the back post which found Micheal Snowdon who came inside and slotted it into the near post on his un-favoured right foot.

It was a very open game with both sides having chances - captain Adam Linsel was superb in the Vibes net to keep the away side in the game.

However, Wanderers did find an equaliser in the 33rd minute through Ryan Fletcher who got on the end of a free header inside the box.

After half time Vibes proved they were there to have a real go and got back in front, Michael Connolly won a corner and then drilled it in - the ball was poorly cleared by Wanderers and it fell to Elliott Campbell who turned it into the back of the net for his second of the season.

Linsel again produced heroics in the 59th minute after a great stop from a header from a Wanderers corner.

Just three minutes later Vibes found themselves level again, Craig Altringham fouled his man in the box and the referee pointed to the spot which was put away by Kyle Morris.

Vibes showed again they were there to make an impact and got in front once again, Anth Thompson produced a great ball over the top of the defence, and the Wanderers keeper came out to collect but missed the ball completely. The pass fell to Snowdon who grabbed his second of the game after slotting the ball into the empty net from a tight angle.

Disaster struck once again as Vibes gave away another penalty in the 80th minute, Callum Shackleton fouled his man in the box and the referee again pointed to the spot and the spot-kick was again converted by Morris to make it 3-3.

Wanderers thought they won it in normal time as Vibes failed to clear the ball and it was snatched away by Craig Hutchinson who ran through and slotted it home to make it 4-3 in the 89th minute.

Vibes had other ideas and immediately looked for an equaliser, Ben Relton played a ball over the Wanderers defence, to find Snowdon who drilled it into Connolly whose deflected effort sailed over the keeper to take the game to penalties right at the end.

Two sides scored some great penalties but ultimately missed out after a miss by Relton - a fantastic effort from the side to come back into the game so many times but it was not meant to be.

Man of the match goes to Michael Snowdon, two goals and an assist a great display on the left-wing - UTV.
