Report: Ryhope 2-4 FC Vibes

Michael Connolly off the mark with a brace as Vibes see out Ryhope in comfortable away win

Connolly opened the scoring in the eighth minute, but Ryhope equalised four minutes later. Jack Stonehouse fired Vibes back in front in the 17th minute.

In the 29th minute Ryhope got a leveller but in the 57th minute Connolly got his second of the game and then Joe Boarder got the final goal in the 84th minute.

The game started with a chance for Ryhope in the second minute as John Sutherland was forced to make a great save from a header.

But Connolly was fouled on the edge of the area in the eighth minute and he stepped up himself and curled the ball into the top right corner putting Vibes into the lead.

However, four minutes later the referee blew his whistle after a Vibes foul inside the area which was converted seeing the game level.

It did not take long for the away side to get back level as Liam Gough played through Jamie Jobson in the 17th minute, who took the ball out wide and drilled it into the area which was fired in by a late run into the box by Jack Stonehouse.

In a move that was against the run of play Ryhope equalised in the 29th minute as a ball was whipped into the area and was headed in at the far post, 2-2.

Ryhope had a chance to take the lead as the number 12 shot from distance, but the ball was claimed easily by the Vibes keeper.

Vibes nearly got in front in the 52nd minute as Stonehouse shot from distance with a lovely curled effort that hit off the bar and fell to Anthony Thompson whose shot was high and over.

Connolly got his second of the game as he showed good feet in the 57th minute to work his way into the box, beating two defenders and curling the ball into the top right hand corner, no chance for the keeper.

Vibes had two great chances from Callum Shackleton in the 70th minute and Boarder in the 78th minute but both strikes could not find the back of the net.

Ryhope had a final chance to get one back in the 80th minute but the striker from a corner was claimed by Sutherland.

The final goal came in the 84th minute as Alex Weegram off the bench won back the ball high up the pitch and played it to Boarder who took his time and calmly finished seeing the game off.

A great game for Vibes, some fantastic performances all around and a man of the match performance from Jack Stonehouse with a goal and great graft in the midfield completely controlling the tempo of the game.
