Report: FC Vibes 9-3 Sunderland Velocity

Vibes through to next round of the County Cup after beating Sunderland Velocity in twelve goal thriller

Things did not start well for Vibes after some lethargic play in the opening minutes Sunderland Velocity got in front in the 16th minute after some good play down the left hand send and the Velocity number 14 turned it into the net.

However, fortunes were turned around and in the 35th minute as he drifted out wide to the right and then cut inside and attempted a chip over the oncoming keeper but it was cleared off the line but only to Michael Connolly who tapped it into the empty net.

This opened the flood gates for Vibes and in the 45th minute Barry Milligan came in from the right and shot towards goal, but it was parried out to Stonehouse who also tapped it into the empty net.

Liam Jackson then got on the scoresheet just two minutes later after a Craig Altringham corner was whipped in and Jacko managed to get touch to turn it in for Vibes’ third.

The game settled down after the second half until Velocity got one back in the 62nd minute from a corner which was failed to be cleared and worked its way into the goal over John Sutherland.

Connolly got his second in the 68th minute after Altringham produced a defence splitting pass that sent him one on and one to round the keeper and slot it into the bottom left corner.

Velocity again scored from a corner that was not cleared by Vibes, making it 4-3 in the game in the 72nd minute.

Immediately from the kick off Connolly was free down the left and cut inside to shoot but it was saved and rebounded straight back to him but this time he squared it straight to Jamie Jobson off the bench who finished it simply into goal.

Ollie Watt scored in the 76th minute after Joppa played it out to the right and he came inside and curled it into the top left corner.

Then two minutes later, Ben Relton off the bench produced a great cross from the right which found Joe Boarder who finished well from close range.

Milligan got on the scoresheet just a minute later as he snatched a loose ball and curled the ball round the keeper, Vibes devasted the Velocity defence.

The final goal came in the 86th minute as Altringham played through Danny Trathan from left back who’s initial strike was saved but it came back to him and he put it into the goal seeing the final score become 9-3.

A great showing after a slow half an hour in the game, great attacking play from Vibes with eight different goal scorers in the game – putting Vibes into the hat for the next round of the county cup.

Craig Altringham won man of the match with three assists and again ran the show from central midfield.

Vibes XI: Sutherland (c); Costello, Jackson, Pearson, Trathan; Altringham, Stonehouse; Millian, Connolly, Watt; Boarder

Subs: E. Campbell, Ad. Thompson, J. Jobson, B. Relton, An. Thompson, K. Martin
