Report: FC Vibes 0-2 Throston Wanderers

Throston Wanderers through to next round of the John Dowson Cup as they beat FC vibes 2-0 in a tightly contested game at Grayfields.

The game started evenly with both sides having solid chances, but the first real chance came in the 18th minute.

Ollie Watt produced some great work down the left-hand side who played the ball into Jamie Jobson, who, after some great hold up play found Barry Milligan on the left who’s shot was well saved and the follow up by Watt was offside.

Wanderers probably should have made it 1-0 if it wasn’t for some heroic goalkeeping by John Sutherland who saved the shot and then cleared off the line by Liam Jackson but only to another Wanderers player but his shot was over the bar.

In the 32nd minute Joppa could have opened the scoring as Milligan broke down the right and played it low into the striker whose shot was saved by keeper.

It was almost 1-0 for Throston just before half time but Sutherland mate two fantastic saves to deny the opener as both sides went into half time 0-0.

Jacko produced heroics again in the 48th minute clearing another Wanderers strike off the line.

However, the stalemate only lasted for two more minutes in the 50th minute the number 8 for Wanderers hit a fantastic effort that sailed into the top corner after a good ball into the box.

In the 59th minute Wanderers could have made it 2-0 after Luke Hogan worked his way into the box and got off a shot but Sutherland was once again equal to it and Jacko clears away the danger.

Wanderers kept piling on the pressure, but Vibes defended well each time and Sutherland made save after save denying a second.

In the 89th minute Wanderers did get their second goal as Jacko made a foul on the edge of the box, which was whipped inside and the Wanderers number 16 got a shot away but Sutherland again made a save but the follow up was this time turned into the back of the net.

The continuation of the cup fixtures from the 2019/20 season ended in defeat for Vibes but the lads defended well throughout against a tough opponent showing that the hard work is paying off.

John Sutherland wins man of the match after a fantastic display in goal for Vibes but massive credits to all the lads for an overall great performance.
