Match Report: Shotton Comrades 0-7VEN

Debutant Harrison Smith scores a hattrick, along with goals from Jamie Jobson (2), Jack Stonehouse, Ben Relton, as 7VEN comfortably see off Shotton in another pre-season test.

The game was fairly open from the off with both sides having their chances, the pace of the game for the first 20 minutes allowed for a good standard of football.

But it was 7VEN who broke the deadlock, Lewis Boylen (back from his loan to CF Ibiza) played through Elliott Campbell on goal but he was taken down and the referee awarded the travelling side a freekick in the 22nd minute.

Jack Stonehouse stepped up to take it and slotted past the keeper to score his second from a deadball in pre-season.

It took until the 40th minute for the second to come and it was Harrison Smith on his first game at his new club, he was played through by Stonehouse and he slotted it into the bottom corner.

This opened the floodgates and it took just two minutes for him to get his second, Jamie Jobson played a superb ball across the face of the goal and Smith was there to slide it home.

Just one minute after the break 7VEN found themselves 4-0 up, this time Olly Burrows was the provider he nicked the ball from the Shotton defence and found Smith inside the area who completed his hattrick.

After some changes the goals dried up, but the tempo of the game was very much the same and 7VEN looked very comfortable throughout.

The fifth on the day came in the 80th minute, Joe Cockrill played a ball across to Jobson who touched it down very well and had a finish to match.

All it took was another two minutes for Jobson to get his second of the game and his seventh in pre-season, Ben Relton this time the provider as he played a great cross into Joppa. With a little help from some shoddy defending, he grabbed his second (he reckons).

The last goal came not long before the referee blew for full time, Barry Milligan who switched to play on the wing crossed a ball into the back post and Relton was there to tap it in.

A fantastic result and performance, Harrison Smith with the man of the match thanks to his debut hattrick. UT7.
